    Tony Rubino, a true driving force behind Thrilla Gives, exemplifies unwavering dedication to making a difference. Co-founder of Thrilla at The Villa, Tony's passion for giving back unfolds into an extraordinary journey. Over nearly two decades, he has raised over $2 million to support diverse charitable causes. Hailing from Detroit, Michigan, Tony imbibed the values of hard work and determination from an early age, leading him and his brother, Danny, to expand the family restaurant business to multiple locations. Beyond the restaurant industry, Tony's entrepreneurial pursuits thrived in the promotional items market, forging lasting connections throughout southeast Michigan.

    Amidst his achievements, Tony's devotion to family radiates brightly with over 50 years of marriage to his beloved wife, Gina. With four children and eight cherished grandchildren, their lives overflow with immeasurable joy. Amidst philanthropic endeavors, Tony seeks solace in boating, hunting, shooting, and savoring a fine cigar.

    Fueling a lasting impact, Tony embarked on a mission to raise funds for Multiple Sclerosis by completing 15 marathons. This dedication to the community's welfare forms the heart of Thrilla Gives (Formerly known as Thrilla at the Villa) — a steadfast pillar of support, benefitting numerous charities, including Multiple Sclerosis, Henry Ford Macomb, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Families Against Narcotics, Chapter 154, and Friends of Foster Kids.

    For Tony, Thrilla Gives finds an embodiment of steadfast philanthropy, inspiring countless lives. Through his leadership and compassion, Tony fosters unity, driving positive change within our community.

  • Alexandria DeSano-Salvaggio

    DIRECTOR

    Alexandria DeSano-Salvaggio has been in the financial industry for over a decade. She is the Director of Philanthropy at Oakland University School of Business. Alexandria is passionate about community engagement and utilizes her strengths and connections to help others. She’s been instrumental in assisting companies to connect with local charities that need volunteers and financial support.

    Alexandria is on the Board of Directors of the Italian American Chamber of Commerce of Michigan, involved in the Executives in Residence Program and Women in Business Mentor Program at Oakland University. Her husband, Dr. Jeffrey DeSano, is a plastic & reconstructive surgeon. He is just as passionate about making a difference, especially in metro Detroit. Dr. DeSano has given numerous presentations at local, regional, and national conferences. He has several publications in the fields of breast oncology and reconstructive surgery. Alexandria joined the Thrilla Team in 2019, and her involvement continues to grow each year.

    She is passionate about our causes and enjoys the enthusiasm that our team must help those in need.

    PRESIDENT

    Meet Matt Asman, the President of Thrilla Gives and a driving force behind the organization's inspiring mission. Working as the Area Sales Manager at the renowned GPM Emipren Company, Matt's enthusiasm for Thrilla events has grown into a passion that has fueled him for over 15 years.

    At home, Matt's heart is warmed by his loving family—his wonderful wife, Christina, and their two amazing children, Makayla and Aiden. His love for community and family extends to his role within Thrilla Gives. Being part of the Thrilla Committee is more than just a responsibility for Matt; it's like being part of a second family.

    Matt Asman's story with Thrilla Gives is one of love, collaboration, and an unwavering commitment to making the world a better place. Whether in his professional life, with his family, or in his community service, Matt embodies the spirit of Thrilla Gives, turning his passion into purpose and touching the lives of those around him.     BOARD CHAIRMAN

    Brian Carroll, a man whose life is dedicated to making a difference in the community. With a heart full of compassion and a spirit of service, Brian has been actively involved in various aspects of community building and philanthropy.

    Brian's commitment to Thrilla Fight Night runs deep. He's been a steadfast supporter of this electrifying event since its inception, never missing a single night of thrilling action. His dedication didn't stop there; for the past 5 years, Brian has been an integral part of the organizing committee, and his passion and dedication led him to serve as the Chairman of the Board for 2 of those years.

    In addition to his philanthropic endeavors, Brian is also a successful entrepreneur. For the past 3 and a half years, he's been the proud owner of Brian Carroll Automotive Group, a testament to his business acumen and leadership skills.

    Brian's heart extends beyond his professional and community roles. He's been happily married to Angela Addelia-Carroll for over 20 years, sharing his life's journey with a loving partner. Together, they've raised three incredible sons—Benny, Dominic, and Sammy—all of whom have either attended or are currently attending Lutheran High North Macomb. Family is at the core of Brian's values, and it's evident in the love and support he provides to his wife and sons.

    Deborah Demick

    SECRETARY

    Deborah Demick has been a dedicated member of the Thrilla at the Villa team for over a decade, bringing her unwavering commitment and passion for making a difference to the forefront of the organization's mission.

    Deborah's journey with Thrilla at the Villa began approximately 12 years ago when the organization was just a small committee of around 10 people. Over the years, she has played a pivotal role in its growth and development, contributing her skills and energy to the cause.

    Beyond her dedication to Thrilla, Deborah is a loving mother to two wonderful children, Emily and David. Emily is married to Zach Leshan, and David is happily married to Amber. Together, they have blessed Deborah with the joy of three grandsons: James, Daniel, and Leo, who are undoubtedly a source of immense pride and happiness.

    In addition to her family and her commitment to Thrilla, Deborah is looking forward to a new chapter in her personal life. She is engaged to her best friend, Charles Moran, and they have exciting wedding plans set for the fall of 2024. With a loving family, a devoted fiancé, and her unwavering commitment to Thrilla at the Villa, Deborah Demick is a remarkable individual making a significant impact in both her personal and professional life.

  • Joe Choinere

    COMMUNITY RELATIONS COORDINATOR

    Joe Choinere is a dedicated Mortgage Loan Consultant at First State Bank, where he has been making an impact since 2018. He also serves as a Real Estate Consultant with the D’Anna Team at KW Lakeside. Since joining the Thrilla Gives committee in 2019, Joe has embraced the committee’s spirit, viewing it not just as a group but as a family of remarkable individuals he is proud to be part of.

     An avid hunter and golfer, Joe treasures his time spent with his wife and daughter. He believes that there is no greater satisfaction than giving back to those in need. Beyond his role with Thrilla Gives, Joe is actively involved in community service as the Community Relations Advisor/Secretary for the Macomb County Sheriff’s Community Relations Division and as an Advisor for the Youth & Senior Education Division with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department. Joe’s commitment to his community and his passion for making a difference are truly inspiring.

  • Anthony Licata

    ADVISORY CHAIR

    Anthony Licata joined the Thrilla Gives committee in 2019, driven by his deep sense of empathy and commitment to making a difference. His passion for helping others was evident from the start, and he quickly became an integral part of the team, always going above and beyond to support the organization’s mission in making a difference in his own backyard.

    Anthony is a color psychologist and nail specialist at Licata’s Nail Studio in Macomb, a role he has dedicated himself to for the past 33 years. His career reflects his genuine desire to bring joy and confidence to others. In addition to his work during the day, Anthony has spent the past 27 years as a security specialist and head doorman at various clubs, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of guests at events.  

    Anthony’s dedication extends beyond his professional life. He is actively involved in the community and serves on the Board of Directors of the Italian American Chamber of Commerce of Michigan. His contributions to the community and his role in Thrilla Gives demonstrate his unwavering commitment to improving the lives of those around him.

    Anthony is married to Rachel, and together they have three wonderful children: Anthony, Adrianna, and Salvatore. His family and community roles highlight his belief in the power of giving and the importance of making a positive impact.

  • Jimmy Mallo

    BOXING DIRECTOR

    Introducing Jimmy Mallo, an influential figure in the boxing and fitness industry with over three decades of dedicated experience. Jimmy in collaboration with his partner, is a startup founder who has introduced, owned, and operated numerous fitness businesses, including KO World Class Boxing, St. Clair Shores, Champ Cycle, Troy, Champ Cycle, Macomb, Champion Health Club, Chesterfield and other ventures. He has inspired countless individuals on their wellness journeys, blending traditional principles with contemporary approaches. Jimmy's passion for health and fitness has left an indelible mark on the industry, earning him the respect of peers and enthusiasts alike.

    Jimmy, a USA Boxing and Team Detroit coach is proud to be a part of “Bridges Beyond Boxing” this is an incredible partnership between Detroit and the Northern Ireland Amateur Boxing community and boxing communities in various cities throughout the United States. We promote unity in our communities by building life long relationships. We enable young people to journey across the Atlantic to unleash their passion for competition while discovering life-changing sporting and cultural experiences, creating brighter futures and communities.

    A seasoned professional Trainer/Manager, Jimmy has worked with Showtime, and ESPN. He has promoted and co-promoted boxing shows at the Palace Of Auburn Hills, Huntington Place , Detroit, Andiamo Banquet Center, Warren, Atheneum Hotel, Detroit, and the Playboy Mansion in LA.

    Operating under the banner "Mallo Boxing," Jimmy has made it his mission to turn underdog stories into triumphs. One of his most notable achievements is the remarkable journey of Mary Jo Sanders, whom he trained, managed, and promoted through the amateurs, winning the Detroit Golden Gloves, to becoming a professional 6-time champion in four different weight divisions. Sanders, also secured the distinction of being the first female fighter to win the prestigious WBC welterweight world title.

    Jimmy Mallo's coaching philosophy goes beyond victories; it is rooted in meticulous training, strategic insights, and an unwavering belief in the potential of every athlete. His legacy serves as a testament to the profound impact a mentor can have on an individual's life, redefining the possibilities within the sport of boxing and beyond.

  • Rene Muniz

    Rene Muniz

    Matchmaker

    Meet Rene Muniz, the dedicated force behind organizing and setting up the boxing matches for Thrilla Gives boxing events. Initially skeptical about boxing's value, Rene's perspective shifted dramatically when he found himself in a fight, realizing the importance of learning the "Art of Boxing" for self-defense and fostering respect for diverse perspectives.

    In 1989, Rene commenced his journey as a boxing trainer, later establishing the American GI Forum boxing gym in Southwest Detroit in 1992 and Casa De Boxeo boxing gym in Lincoln Park in 2000. Over the years, he trained numerous individuals, guiding some to become Golden Glove National Champions and even a World Amateur boxing champion.

    From 2002 to 2023, Rene served as the Metro Detroit Golden Gloves tournament director, earning four Coach of the Year awards from the Michigan Boxing Association. Appointed to the Michigan Professional Boxing Commission by Governor Granholm in 2005, Rene's impact extended beyond the ring.

    A Vietnam War veteran, Rene retired from Great Lakes Steel in 1999, believing that he was spared to make a positive difference in the community. His retirement didn't slow him down; he continued to advocate for youth, emphasizing the proactive approach to address challenges rather than reactive responses later.

    As an amateur boxing coach, Rene instills crucial life lessons, teaching young boxers to say "No" to drugs and gangs, work towards personal and team goals, and cultivate self-respect and respect for others. Supported by his wife Karen of over 56 years, Rene is an active member of the community, involved in organizations like the Lincoln Park Knight of Columbus and Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic Church. As a member of Vietnam Veterans of America and Disabled Veterans of America, Rene's commitment to service remains unwavering. His family, including four children, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, is the source of warmth and brightness in his life.

  • Matt Baffo

    PAST PRESIDENT

    Meet Matt Baffo, a dedicated loan officer with a passion for providing top-notch customer experiences. Educating clients about mortgages and the homebuying process is not just a duty, but a true pleasure for him. Since 2003, Matt has been an integral part of the Mortgage Business, currently serving as 1st Vice President and Mortgage Loan Sales Manager at First State Bank. Beyond his professional achievements, Matt finds true joy in watching his family grow and spending quality time at their cherished cottage in Caseville.

    Amidst his successful career, Matt has earned accolades and recognition from various organizations, including First State Bank, Detroit Hour Magazine, and the Michigan Mortgage Lenders Association. Yet, despite these accomplishments, Matt remains grounded and humble, continuously striving to make a positive impact on his community. With an unassuming demeanor, he selflessly serves on boards, volunteers for worthy causes, and actively participates in events like Thrilla at the Villa/Thrilla Gives. Matt's education includes a BBA from Walsh College and an Associates from Macomb Community College, reflecting his commitment to personal growth and development.

    Beyond his resume, Matt's genuine care for others shines through in his daily actions, making him an inspiring figure both professionally and personally.

    Jim's commitment to our mission was nothing short of inspirational. He believed in the power of giving back and dedicated his time and passion to make our community a better place. With a passion that has fueled him for over two decades, Al's unwavering dedication has transformed lives and raised an astounding one million dollars for organizations that make a real impact. His heart beats for causes like The Leukemia Foundation, Multiple Myeloma, Relay for Life, The American Cancer Society, and The Great American Lock-Up, to name a few. He's championed education, supporting L’Anse Creuse Public Schools Scholarships, reflecting his belief in empowering the next generation.

    A vital part of Al's legacy is his role as the spirited co-host of The Thrilla at the Villa for Multiple Sclerosis, a position he has embraced for the past ten years. His latest venture involves backing The Vietnam Veterans Support Center Chapter 154, showcasing his commitment to those who've bravely served our country.

    Al's influence stretches beyond fundraising. As a member of the Italian American Chamber of Commerce, The Knights of Columbus, L'Anse Creuse Foundation, and Metro Networking Professionals, he plays an active role in shaping his community. His voice is heard in the Selfridge Air Base Community Council, and his leadership is evident as he sits on the Board of Directors for the Veterans Court in Macomb County.

    And if you're ever in the mood for a slice of some of the best pizza in town, you'll find Al at the helm as the President of Sam's Sorrento's Pizza, bringing joy to the tables of those he serves.
